Jimmy Hood Spencer, 95, formerly of Gainesville, passed away May 16, 2025, in Granbury. He was born May 29, 1929 in Breckenridge to John Walter and Theodotia (Hood) Spencer.
Jimmy married the love of his life, Lougenia Ann Wingo on September 19, 1951. He enjoyed square dancing and metal detecting in his spare time. He loved to spend time at the lake, camping, fishing, and teaching kids to water ski. He never passed up a chance to play the slot machines. He was a people-person through and through. He was always eager to lend a helping hand, never saying no to anyone in need.
Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife of almost 73 years Lougenia Spencer; daughter and son-in-law Lesa and George Orgain of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Joe Papczynski of Rogers, AR; son and daughter-in-law Guy and Celesa Spencer of Nemo. He is also survived by grandchildren: Chris, Shawnna, Jamie, Cory, Brooke, Montana, Cheyenne; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John Walter, Jr. and David Vern Spencer; sisters Leta Celestine, Marie, and Gwendolyn Spencer.
