Joseph Robert Bayer, 85, of Southlake, passed away July 6, 2025 in Southlake. Known by “Joe”, or affectionately as “Mr. Wonderful”, he was born July 28, 1939 in Muenster.
Survived by: wife Linda Bayer of Southlake; daughter Cindy Mersch (Leo McGuire) of Springtown; daughter Rebecca Martin (Vince) of Kailua-Kona, HI; daughter Christy Bishop (Clay) of Matagorda; grandchildren: Sarah Mersch (Jonathan), Erin Dowell (Justin), and Jordan Martin (Cody Meadows); and great-grandchildren: Madison, Grayson, Laken, Kameron, Jaxon, and Holden.
Predeceased by: parents Al and Marie (Loerwald) Bayer; daughter Rhonda Garley; sister Lavonta Ward; sister Lynette Trammell; and sister Loretta Davis.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. On Friday, a Rosary service will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, at the funeral home, with a committal service to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville. A reception will be held at Krootz Brewing Co. after services from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
