Kathryn Joy (McGee) Cooper, 88, of Gainesville, passed away January 6, 2026 in Gainesville.

Kathryn was born August 21, 1937 in Gainesville and attended Gainesville High School. She first worked for AT&T, then as a purchasing agent for the federal government. Driven by her tender heart, Ms. Cooper was called to a career in nursing from which she retired. Everyone who knew Ms. Cooper knew of her love of all animals, especially her devotion to cats.

Survivors include: family friend, Jane Pace, and her nephew, David Kephart.

A special thanks is owed to Ms. Cooper’s caregiver and friend, Jamie Watson; hospice nurse, Brooklyn, and aide, Jessica; and the staff of Pecan Tree Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, especially Laura.

Ms. Cooper was predeceased by her parents, Roscoe McGee and Mary Faye (Hancock) McGee; and her brother.

A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, January 8, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Collinsville Cemetery.
