It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kelly Jo Nance, who died on June 7, 2025 at the age of 65 after a long battle with chronic illness. Born Kelly Jo Pearson on June 28, 1959 in Gainesville, Texas, she was a woman whose love and generosity knew no boundaries and whose kindness touched every life she encountered.
Kelly married Herbert Dale Nance in 1987. Kelly and Herbert lived in Gainesville, Texas, later moved to Topeka, Kansas, and eventually returned to Gainesville. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a nurse. Throughout her nursing career she worked with patients in emergency rooms and as a nurse consultant to secure better outcomes for the patients she served. She brought the same compassion to her profession that she showed in every aspect of her life, serving as a loving and kind soul who was a fierce advocate and the biggest cheerleader for those she held dear. Her unwavering support and encouragement lifted up everyone around her.
Known for her generous heart, Kelly had a special gift for rescuing stray animals who crossed her path. She would welcome them into her home and lavish them with care, often preparing meals for her four-legged friends. Her home was a sanctuary where all creatures, great and small, found love and healing.
Kelly is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Herbert Dale Nance; her daughter Kristin Dayle Nance; stepsons David Bryan Nance and his wife Heather, and Chad Aaron Nance; her mother Barbara Beam; her father Keith Pearson; her sister Paula Pettibon; and her brother Mike Pearson. She is also survived by honorary family member Belva McClinton and all her beloved animals.
A viewing service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th, from 5-7 p.m.
The memorial service will take place on Monday, June 16th at 2 p.m. Both services will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, 602 Lindsay St, Gainesville, TX, 76240.
