Lucy Westbrook, age 88, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026.
Lucy was born on September 8, 1937. She lived a life filled with hard work, humor, generosity, and love for the people and animals around her. She worked various jobs, most notably as a waitress at the Smokehouse in Lindsay, Texas, where she continued working well into her early 80s. Lucy also spent years cleaning homes and caring for others through her work. She was known for her quick wit, playful jokes, and ability to keep customers and friends laughing wherever she went. More than anything, Lucy loved her family. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she never missed an opportunity to make someone feel special with a thoughtful gift or kind gesture. Lucy also had a soft heart for animals and rarely turned away a dog or cat that found its way to her door. Lucy enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including collecting ducks and whiskey bottles. Her home, her stories, and her laughter created lasting memories for all who knew her. Lucy was a faithful attendee of Mass at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Whitesboro, Texas.
Lucy’s warmth, humor, generosity, and love for family will be remembered always by everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Lucy is survived by her children: Helen Wildes; Wilma Boaz and husband Tommy; William Hoenig and wife Sharon; Donna Crane and husband David; Pamela Harrison and husband Ricky; Douglas Hoenig; and Curtis Hoenig. She is also survived by her sister, Emma White, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and other loved ones who welcome her home into eternal peace.
