Margaret N. Gilbreath

Margaret N. Hodges Gilbreath, 73, of Gainesville, TX passed away on June 9, 2026 with her family by her side.

Margaret was born on August 6, 1952 in Decatur, TX to Thomas and Tommie Ann (Wooten) Hodges. She grew up on the family’s dairy east of Alvord, TX where she attended school in Alvord then later in Decatur where she graduated from in 1970. Afterwards, she attended Cooke County College, graduating in 1972 with a degree in business management. It was there that she met the love of her life, Cleddie Gilbreath. They were married on May 20, 1972 and were later blessed with two daughters, Nicole and Amber.

Margaret enjoyed working on the genealogy of not only her family, but also Cleddie’s. They would travel to several states over the years to gather family history records. She loved spending time with her grandkids whether they were shopping, cooking in her kitchen or fishing at the boat slip.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, brother Truitt Hodges Sr. and sister Jo Evelyn Adkins.

Margaret is survived by her husbands of 54 years, Cleddie Gilbreath; daughters Nicole Gilbreath and Amber Hemenway and husband Brett; grandchildren Jana Bryant and husband Lane, Janis Manners and husband Ryan, Tay Gilbreath, Lilly Stogdill, Jaymz, Emily, Zachary and Clayton Hemenway; great-grandchildren Noah, Jacob and Josephine; brothers-in-law Ken Gilbreath and Wesley Sherrill and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel.
