Funeral services for Mary Perlene (Cloer) Newton, 76, of Valley View, are set for Friday, June 20th at 1:30 p.m. at the Valley View United Methodist Church with Pastors Cheryl Murphy and Beate Hall officiating. A short time of viewing and visitation are prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery.

Perlene passed away on June 14, 2025 at Heart to Heart Hospice in Fort Worth, TX.

Perlene was born on May 2, 1949 in Mountain Springs, TX to Lonnie B. and Lorene Alexander Cloer Hite. She was a graduate of Valley View High School in 1967. She was employed with Alan Ritchey, Inc. in Valley View and several CPA firms in the Metroplex. Her working career was in the accounting tax field for over 40 years. She was a member of the Valley View United Methodist Church and she loved her church family. She was active member of Keep Valley View Beautiful and very proud team member which achieved two Governor Awards for her home town of Valley View in 2006 and 2009 which totally rebuilt its town square. She also was involved with the Valley View Chamber, the VVHS Alumni Assn., Cross Timbers Genealogical Society, the Valley View Senior Center and the Cooke County United Way. She helped with numerous fundraiser events. She loved her work in volunteering to make dreams possible.

Survivors are her husband Norman Newton of 22 yrs. (her soul mate); her two sons (whom she adored) Jonathan (Jon) Cheshire of Collinsville and Patrick Cheshire of Whitesboro; her beautiful daughter by marriage Coty Newton Fisher and husband, Chris of Panama, Okla; seven adorable and precious grandchildren, Brooklyn, Landon, Conor and Colt Cheshire, Caitlin, Ella and Jack Fisher; sisters Joann Ortez of Valley View and Kay Kerr and husband Brad of Collinsville; one brother Bobby Cloer of Collinsville; sister-in-law Donna Cloer and her dear aunt Norma Jean Alexander, both of Gainesville; and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Perlene was very excited about the birth of her first great-grandchild later this year.

Perlene loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and her crazy boo boo’s. She was known as Nanny and Nana to her grandchildren and to so many other children who came into her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents Samuel Franklin Cloer and Mary Raymouth Higgison Cloer Henderson; maternal grandparents Oscar Gordan and Pearl Lucille Massey Alexander; brothers Lonnie Clifford Cloer, Jimmy Royce Cloer and Samuel (Sammy) Oscar Cloer; sister-in-law Ruth Cloer; brother-in-law James Ortez; and a sweet niece Deann Cloer Paradise.
