Mary Frances (Chapman) Preston, aged 90, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on the morning of January 29, 2026, in Gainesville, Texas. Born on March 10, 1935, in Ivanhoe, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of James John and Mary Eliza (Jones) Chapman.
Early Life and Family
Mrs. Preston married Jack Preston on December 18, 1954. Together they raised seven children, cherishing the joys and challenges of family life. Mary’s devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her daily life. Mary was surrounded by a loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Leola and Faye, brothers Lin and Basil, grandson Brad, granddaughters Jamie and Candace.
Career and Accomplishments
Outside of her responsibilities as a devoted mother, Mary built a distinguished career at Lockheed Martin. She contributed to several assembly lines, working on various models of fighter jets. Her dedication and work ethic shone through during her 21-year career, culminating in her retirement in March 2000. Mary took pride in her work, knowing she played a part in building aircraft that served and protected our nation.
Legacy and Survivors
Mary is survived by her seven children: daughters Theresa Anderson, Mary Alford and husband Travis, Karen Clark and husband Craig, and sons Jace Preston and wife Debbie, Harmon Preston and wife Cindy, Jack Preston and wife Dena, Robert Preston and wife Rose. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her memory and love.
Funeral Arrangements
Funeral services will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on February 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM in Gainesville, Texas. Burial will follow at Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, Texas. Family, friends, and all those touched by Mary's life are invited to gather and honor her legacy. The family will be available before the service for visitation.
Mary will be remembered for her steadfast devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
