Nancy Lee Stockard

NANCY LEE STOCKARD , 82 , of Marietta, Oklahoma passed away April 12, 2025 at Homestead of Gainesville, Texas. She was born on August 9, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma to James and Ora (Smith) Spears.

Nancy graduated from Lawton High School in 1960. She married Bill Herrington in November 1959. They moved to Plainview, Texas where they raised three sons; Steve, Mark, and Jeff. Nancy worked at the Plainview Daily Herald until accepting a position as Secretary to the Dean of Students at Wayland Baptist College. In 1975 the family moved to Gainesville, Texas where she worked at Cooke County College as the Secretary to Witt Williams.

After a divorce from Bill, she married Carl Stockard on November 15, 1997. They lived in Pitkin, Colorado where she worked for the Gunnison School District. They eventually settled in Marietta, Oklahoma where she lived until her death.

Family was her first priority and she was famous for sending greeting cards for every occasion. She never failed to send a birthday card to friends and loved ones. She took extensive photos of get-togethers, celebrations and vacations. Planning trips was as much fun to her as actually going to the places.

Nancy is survived by her husband Carl Stockard, children; Steve Herrington, Jeffrey Herrington, Mike Stockard, David Glen Stockard, Patti Mauldin & Sharon Stockard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark Gregory Herrington & sister LaDonna Gannon.

The family will receive friends at George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Funeral services will be at 11:00 immediately following visitation.
