Nickie Lue Huddleston Turner, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2026, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, unwavering love, and a life devoted to caring for others.

Nickie was born to Henry and Vivian Huddleston on February 4, 1947, in Muenster, TX. She was raised in Saint Jo and Breckenridge alongside her five brothers and sisters.

On April 10, 1964, she married the love of her life, Weldon Ray Turner. Together they built a marriage that spanned nearly six decades, filled with love, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to family. Though Weldon preceded her in death, theirs was a love that served as an example to all who knew them.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Shirley Hefley, an aunt to Susan Lee, and proud Nan to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She treasured every gathering, every conversation, and every opportunity to spend time with those she loved.

For many years, Nickie dedicated her career to caring for children. While it was her profession, it was much more than a job, it was her calling and she loved each one of them dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Weldon Ray Turner; her parents, Henry and Vivian Huddleston; and her siblings, Saddie Balthrop, Anna Mae Huddleston, Shirley Ann Barnett, Charles Earl Huddleston, and William “Bill” Huddleston.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hefley (Steve) of Longview, grandchildren Jason James (Libby) of Valley View, Christopher Dudley (Shelby) of Whitehouse, Nicole Dudley DeLeeuw (Joel) of Tyler, Stan Walker (Kasey) of Kilgore, Stephanie Evans( Chris) of Hallsville, Skyler Hefley (Ashley) of Tyler; her niece Susan, her great niece Payton, 12 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of other special nieces and nephews.

Recognized as honorary pallbearers are: Rodney Fleenor and Joe Grotte.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Nickie will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the love she gave.

Visitation will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

A Graveside Service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Randy Carroll officiating.
