J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Voth passed away September 8, 2018 in Dallas.

Peggy was born on April 23, 1947 in Muenster, TX to Linzie & Ruth Branch.  She spent her childhood in Bulcher along the Red River, where she quickly learned that snakes were not her friend.  That snake was the only thing she encountered throughout the rest of her life that didn’t become her friend.  She loved her time at school and many of the relationships she has carried throughout her life.

In 1968, Peggy was set up on a blind date with Robert to the Cooke County Fair.  It was true love, and Robert decided to seal the deal and make that special lady his wife.  In a romantic gesture, he drove her to Fort Worth on Christmas Eve for a nice dinner.  Being Christmas Eve, everything was closed, and he proposed over a nice, hot meal at a truck stop.  So, in front an audience of waitresses and truck drivers, she said “yes”.  All of these fine details were omitted from the engagement story she wrote in their wedding album.  They spent the next forty-eight years devoted to each other throughout countless other crazy situations like their courtship.

Robert & Peggy also loved spending time with their friends and modeled what true friendship looks like.  Traveling, playing cards, sharing meals, and investing in each other’s lives was very important to them.

Along the way they welcomed two beautiful, intelligent, and hilarious daughters, Tracie & Robin.  Peggy was a devoted mother to more than just the two of us, as she became a second mom to many of our friends along the way.  She was the quintessential mother, endlessly baking brownies and cookies and representing as room mom throughout our school days.  Her open heart and open door ensured our house as the “cool house” throughout our high school days.  Being a mother was her favorite role.  She excelled at it, she loved it, and she was the very best at it.  Because of her, becoming mothers ourselves wasn’t as intimidating, as we simply learned how to do it from the very best.

Peggy spent many years working at Gainesville High School and Lee Intermediate.  There, she nurtured kids, staff, and families alike with a ready smile and genuine kindness.  Throughout the years, Peggy was also active in the community with many organizations that were close to her heart.  Through her church, sorority, the Red Hat ladies, & finally the Hospital Auxiliary, she continued to build her life-long friendships and serve those around her.

Peggy really thrived with her current position as Mimi.  We all thought she loved before but never like she did to her granddaughters, Dylan, Micah, & Wren.

Peggy was always ready to help and she always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.  We will miss her sweet smile and her loving heart.  She touched so many lives, and it is apparent just how special she was to so many people.  She was a mom to many and a friend to all and as sweet, kind, and caring as they come.
