Phyllis Lawson

Phyllis Linda Lawson, 82, of Gainesville, TX, passed away October 31, 2022 in Gainesville.

Phyllis was born October 14, 1940, in Bigelow, AR.  She grew up in Chicago, IL where she met Cliff Lawson while working at ITT Kellogg.  The couple married in 1960 and had two children.  The family moved to Paragould, AR in 1979, then Gainesville, TX in 1984, where Mr. and Mrs. Lawson worked together at Weber Aircraft.  Mrs. Lawson retired in 2005 as a Senior Buyer.  Mrs. Lawson was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Phi Zeta Sorority, Cooke County Republican Women, the Hospital Auxiliary, and First Baptist Church of Sherman, TX.  She enjoyed a good cup of coffee and traveling the world with her friend, Cheryl Polk, visiting all 50 states and 70 countries.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by: husband Cliff Lawson; parents Owen and Julia Hazelwood; and brother Zane Hazelwood.

Survivors include: daughter Beth Lawson of Highland Village; son Buck Lawson and wife Maria of Gainesville; grandchildren: Jadyn Suarez, Joseph Suarez, Owen Lawson, and Porter Lawson; sister Kay Hazelwood of Clarksville, TN; brother Greg Hazelwood and wife Margaret of Clarksville, TN; and brother John Hazelwood and wife Patricia of Clarksville, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.  A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2 at First Baptist Church of Sherman, TX.  A committal service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, at Hope Cemetery, Imboden, AR.
