A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond John "Bud" Metzler, 93, of Lindsay, is scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Fr. John Martin and Fr. Brett Metzler officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, with visitation to follow.
Bud passed away July 27, 2026, at his home in Gainesville.
Bud Metzler was born November 21, 1932, in Lindsay, Texas, to Phillip and Frances Metzler. Bud served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal in the military police. He married Helen Josephine Corcoran on November 24, 1955, in Gainesville, and the couple raised their five children on their family farm. Bud worked at Metzler Brothers Drive-In and ran a liquor store with his brother Julius Metzler. Bud farmed and raised cattle for over 50 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, and giving you a hard time. He had a witty personality and always had a one-liner for any situation. He was a proud member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and proud of his German heritage.
He is survived by his daughter Sharon Felderhoff and husband Ronnie Felderhoff of Muenster; son Karl and wife Kathy Metzler of Era; daughter-in-law Brenda Metzler of Lindsay; son Jeff Metzler and wife Karan Metzler of Bowie; and son Brad Metzler and wife Ronda Metzler of Lindsay; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother Bill Metzler and wife Ethel Metzler of Lindsay; sister Annabell Dieter of Lindsay; and Virginia "Sweetie" Noggler of Lindsay.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Frances Metzler; his wife, Helen Metzler of Lindsay; son Chris Metzler; and brothers Clarence "Dutch," Leroy "Lee," Gerald, Julius, and infant William Metzler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Mr. Metzler may be made to Sisters of Carmel of Jesus Crucified, PO Box 308 Muenster, Texas 76252
