A funeral service for Ricky Nelson, 70, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating.

Mr. Nelson passed away February 8, 2020 in Gainesville.

Ricky was born January 10, 1950 in Lamesa, TX to Mack and Vena (Wilson) Nelson.  He married Darlene Smith on February 11, 1993 in Andrews, TX.  Mr. Nelson worked in sales for Harbison Fischer and, most recently, Traditions Hospitality before his retirement.  He enjoyed fishing and supporting the Texas Rangers, and treasured the time he spent around his beloved family.

Survivors include: wife Darlene Nelson of Gainesville; daughter Brandi Riordan of Lubbock; son Brock Nelson and wife Lauren of Lubbock; son Brady Nelson and wife Nicole of Lubbock; son Justin Cole and wife Natalie of Pasadena, CA; daughter Chanda Cole of Gainesville; grandchildren: Reese, Saylor, Londyn, Elliot, Tatum, and Hunter; brother Mackie Nelson of Lamesa; sister Linda McClung and husband Dave of Olathe, KS; and father-in-law Clarence Smith of Dublin.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by: parents Mack and Vena Nelson; brother Dwayne Nelson; brother Darvin Nelson; brother Richard Nelson; sister Nelva Evans; mother-in-law Peggy Smith; and sister-in-law Linda Nelson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
