Robert Benton, affectionately known as Robby, was born on April 13, 1974, in Santa Clara, California, and passed away on September 7, 2025, in Gainesville, Texas, at the age of 51.
Robby grew up in Boise, Idaho, before moving with his family to the Dallas–Fort Worth area in 1990. He attended J.J. Pierce High School in Richardson, Texas, and from a young age proved himself a dedicated and hardworking individual. Since the age of 17, he rose to management positions at every place he worked, including Marble Slab Creamery, Fox Camera, multiple restaurants, and, for the last 16 years, WinStar Casino.
Robby married the love of his life, Charlie Benton, with whom he shared a deep bond, a love of travel, and a home filled with joy and companionship, including their three beloved cats. A passionate San Francisco 49ers fan, Robby proudly decorated his home in gold and red and cherished cheering on his team. He also had a lifelong love of cars, with his Tesla Y—painted in 49ers red—being his favorite.
Tech-savvy and innovative, Robby took pride in building and maintaining his home, even installing solar panels himself. Known for his humor, easygoing nature, and ability to brighten the lives of his family and friends, he was also deeply passionate about his beliefs and unafraid to share them.
Robby was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Benton; his mother, Rebecca Benton; his father, Danny Benton; and his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who welcomed him in heaven.
He is survived by his brother, Monty Benton; his aunt, Coral; his uncle, Buster; his cousins, Ali and Lance Kennedy; as well as many extended family members, friends, and coworkers. Robby also leaves behind lifelong friends Matt Cole and Brian Chase, whose friendship he treasured.
