Lake Kiowa

Robert Edward Manner, 93, of Lake Kiowa, Texas passed away December 8, 2025 in Gainesville, Texas. He was born on October 15, 1932, in Dallas, Texas to Harold Eugene and Vivian Sarah (Colwell) Manner.

Bob grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1950. He played football, basketball, and tennis while in high school. He then enrolled at Texas A&M University, where he studied General Business and served in the Corps of Cadets. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1954, Bob served in the United States Air Force. He was a navigator on a B-47 bomber aircraft during his service and served his country with honors. After leaving the Air Force in 1958, Bob started working and attending SMU University School of Law at night.

Bob met the love of his life, Joyce Holloway, and they were married at Longview First Baptist Church in 1961. After graduating from SMU Law School in 1964, Bob started working at Texas Instruments, Inc and retired in 1991. Bob and Joyce had two children, Paige and David. Through David and his wife, Sylvia, Bob had three grandchildren, Matthew, Gabriella, and Kyle Manner, whom he loved deeply.

Bob was a brilliant attorney, but there was much more to him. He spent most of his free time teaching his children, coaching their sports teams, playing tennis with his children, and providing a loving home for his family. He loved to watch sports, particularly his beloved Texas A&M Aggies and the Dallas Cowboys. Bob and Joyce moved to Lake Kiowa, Texas in 2001 where he continued to play the two sports that he loved most, tennis and golf. Bob was known for his kindness and willingness to serve others as is evident through his years of service at Habitat for Humanity, several North Texas food pantries, and different work projects at churches. He was very proud of the Backpack Buddy program at Visto in Gainesville that provided meals for needy children on weekends. He also enjoyed hobbies such as building model ships, genealogy, visiting civil war sites, reading, and fishing. Most importantly, Bob was a follower of Jesus Christ and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior at an early age. His Christian faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He attended First United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Texas.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Vivian Manner, and his brother, Gene Manner. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his two children, Paige McLeroy and David Manner, his daughter-in-law, Sylvia Manner as well as his three grandchildren, Matthew (Natalie), Gabriella, and Kyle and his nephew Stephen Glazner. He is buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
