With deep respect for life defined by grit and purpose, we celebrate the life of Tom Sparkman, age 82, who passed away in his home on December 7, 2025, after a four-year battle with cancer. He lived a life grounded in hard work, humility, and unwavering faith.
Tom was born February 6, 1943 and graduated from Valley View High School in 1961. After 15 years at Continental Battery and 8 years at Technicut, Tom started working on old tractors. He loved and found much purpose in restoring old tractors and reselling them. This post retirement venture wasn’t just a hobby; it was his vision and passion that kept him active.
A dedicated family anchor, Tom invented in his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He thrived in a lifestyle rooted in authenticity and country life. His life was built on hard work, faith, and family.
Tom leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Patsy Sparkman; son Marty Sparkman (Sharon); son Devin Sparkman (Denise); son Ricky Sparkman; son Darryl Sparkman; son Scott Sparkman (Lisa); stepson Bredger Thomason (Gina); brother Tim Sparkman; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Alton and Alma Lou (Tuggle) Sparkman; sisters Sallie Lones, Judy Meyer, and Tex Emma Doughty; stepson Jedediah Thomason; and sister-in-law Brenda Sparkman.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arcy Hospice or a charity of one’s choosing.
