William Earl Lemons

Our sweet husband, Dad, and Pop, Earl Lemons, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, in Gainesville, Texas, at the age of 87. He was born on December 28, 1938, in El Centro, California, to Buster Frank and Clota Edith (Steele) Lemons. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School.

Earl married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Gynelle” Martindale, on June 15, 1957. They shared 69 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Earl was a faithful member of Hillcrest Church of Christ. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling with Gynelle, woodworking, and serving as a song leader. After retiring from Peterbilt, Earl returned to work as a starter at Winstar Golf Course, where his love of the game helped him form countless lasting friendships.

One of Earl’s greatest blessings was being called “Pop” by his seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was a jokester who loved playing tricks on his grandchildren, creating countless memories they will cherish for years to come.

Earl is survived by his wife, Gynelle Lemons of Lake Kiowa, Texas; his son, Steve and Kathy Lemons of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; and his daughter, Gayla and Roy Brewer of Gainesville, Texas.

He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Josh and Yoriela Lemons; Jillian and Jordan Conley; Andrea and Jay Lambert; Cody and Whitney Brewer; Elizabeth and Logan Curtis; and Chisam and Megan Brewer; as well as nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; his daughter-in-law, Sara; and his grandson, Jeremy.

Visitation will be held at Valley View Church of Christ on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Mr. Lemons may be made to Hospice of Cooke County.

Earl will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him. His greatest legacy will live on through the family he loved so dearly and the many cherished memories he leaves behind.
