Wayne Mordecai

Private interment for Marshall Wayne Mordecai, 77, of Valley View, is set for a later date.

Marshall was born on August 26, 1937 in Denton to Marshall Connor and Vera Eloise (Taliaferro) Mordecai. He passed away on September 27, 2014 in Gainesville.

Wayne, as everyone knew him, graduated from Denton High School, and was a member of the Boys Choir of Denton. He also graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor's, and was a CPA. He was an insurance executive for many companies, a cattle rancher, and owned a dirt construction business. Marshall was the youngest licensed barber in Texas, and also went on to become the youngest President of an insurance company in Texas. Wayne and his wife Beverly were married in 1983 and resided on their farm in Mountain Springs where they raised cattle.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Mordecai; son Steven Mordecai; step-son James Michael Cheaney; grandchildren Emily Mordecai, Marshall Mordecai, Jamie (Rocky) Morgan, and Bobby Cheaney; great-grandchildren Nate Cheaney, and Ace Thomas Morgan; brother Michael Mordecai of Austin; and sister Linda Jennings of Farmers Branch. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
