Martha Diskin

Funeral services for Martha Ellen Diskin, 69, will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gainesville, TX. A visitation with rosary to follow will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.


Mrs. Diskin died October 9, 2014 in her home in Gainesville, TX surrounded by her loved ones.


Mrs. Diskin was born March 9, 1945 in Springfield, MO, daughter of Bob and Laura Hughes. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1995, and served as an Occupational Therapist in Sherman, TX for 10 years.


Survivors include her husband, Tom of Gainesville; brother, Jim Hughes and his wife Jan of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Byron Hughes and his wife Debbie of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Jolene Anderson of Emporia, KS; daughter Christine Qualls and her husband Terry of McKinney, TX; daughter Laurie Caskey and her husband Todd of Honolulu, HI; daughter Patricia Diskin of Gainesville, TX; granddaughter Kara Brittain and her husband Michael; grandson Todd Caskey and his wife Kelly; granddaughter Alexandria Qualls; many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Ann Everly Hughes in 2004; her father, Bob Hughes in 1983; and her sister, Myra Hale in 2001.


In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in memoriam of Martha Diskin to Home Hospice of Grayson, Cooke, and Fannin Counties, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, and/or St. Mary’s Restoration Fund.
